Fatal Error on attempting to activate plugin
I'm getting this fatal error when trying to activate the plugin:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare featurific_template_configuration_warning() (previously declared in /home/*****/public_html/wp-content/plugins/featurific-for-wordpress/featurific.php:78) in /home/****/public_html/wp-content/plugins/featurific-for-wordpress/featurific.php on line 77

The plugin shows as activated and suggests that I add the code manually into my index file. Ive tried to do so and deactivate and reactivate but I still get the same fatal error. Help?

RE: Fatal Error on attempting to activate plugin
I get a similar one....

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare featurific_show_admin_message_once() (previously declared in /home/carbonra/public_html/wp-content/plugins/featurific-for-wordpress/featurific.php:145) in /home/carbonra/public_html/wp-content/plugins/featurific-for-wordpress/featurific.php on line 156

I've updated the permissions but no matter what I do I get this. I'm guessing it's a diff issue, but what's the easiest way around this?

RE: Fatal Error on attempting to activate plugin
Usually errors like that mean a plugin conflict. I have a lot of essential plugins I use so it wouldnt be conducive for me to spend much time troubleshooting them to see where the conflicts are right now. If you only use a handful of plugins you might want to try deactivating them all and just running the featuriffic (just to see if it installs successfully then)

if you're successful can you let me know what plugins you're using?

RE: Fatal Error on attempting to activate plugin
Hi Guests 1, 2, and 3, Smile

Guest #3 is most likely on the right track. There is probably a conflict between two plugins or some other issue. Please follow the steps listed in the post below:

http://featurific.com/support/thread-51.html

After following these steps, please post the 'actual' error message here so we can work on resolving the conflict.

Thanks, and have a great day! Smile

RE: Fatal Error on attempting to activate plugin
This is Guest #1 (Lincoln),

After following the suggestions and some plugins troubleshooting, it looks like the WPG2 plugin (which is used to bridge WordPress and the gallery script) caused a conflict with the Featurific plugin. I deactivated WPG2, then activated Featurific, which finally installed without issue, then reactivated WPG2. So far I haven't seen any major issues since then.

Thanks for your help!

RE: Fatal Error on attempting to activate plugin
Hi,
I have installed featurific plug free for testing it in my blogspaper, to buy pro-version if it runs...
but there is a problem, the plugin generate the error below, and I tried to change permissions, etc.
Because featurific will did not display in home or index .php but in the sidebar, in fact I have made copy and paste in my sidebar, and it works fine, (more large than the column but I think it's possible to change width in somewhere of the featurific files) but the problem it's no admin interface, to make settings for the posts I want to be displayed...
Important! I don't want featurific in home or index page, but only in sidebar, with a dimension of width 200px and height 285...
thank for help...

Featurific for Wordpress needs your attention.

Template file (C:\Inetpub\vhosts\lasiciliainmoto.it\httpdocs/wp-content/themes/premium/home.php) does not contain 'have_posts()'.

Featurific for Wordpress is almost ready. To complete installation, Featurific for Wordpress needs access to your main template file.

* Temporarily modify your theme's file permissions and reinstall
1. Change the file permissions on your current theme's files to be world-writable (chmod 666 should suffice)
o Using an FTP client (easy)
o Using the command line (harder, requires shell access)
2. Deactivate and re-activate Featurific for Wordpress, and installation will complete successfully if the main template file is in fact world-writable.
3. Optional: If desired, revert your permissions back to normal. (chmod 644 for files, chmod 755 for directories)
* Manually insert the Featurific code Instead of modifying your permissions so that Featurific can install itself into your theme automatically, you have the option of installing Featurific manually. For instructions on how to do so, visit the Featurific website.

To get rid of this status message, either complete the steps listed above or disable the Featurific for Wordpress plugin.
Sorry, I forgotten my website http://www.lasiciliainmoto.it

actually the plugin is deactivated...
thanks

RE: Fatal Error on attempting to activate plugin
Hi Fabio,

I think I understand your problems, although I think there might be a bit of a language barrier for us. We'll work through it, though. Smile

1. That error is generated when Featurific tries to insert itself into your template. It looks for has_posts() and inserts itself just before this function call. However, if it detects the presence of insert_featurific() in your template, it doesn't do this check, and the error goes away. (One possible workaround to make this error go away would be to simply put a call to Featurific within a comment. I.e.:

PHP Code:
<!-- <?php insert_featurific() ?> -->

This should make the error go away without actually inserting Featurific on your main/home/index page.

2. You seem to be having trouble specifying the posts you want to be displayed. Have you tried the 'User-Specified Posts' option?

3. To change the dimension of the slideshow, edit the template.xml file for the template that you're using. You can find the templates in plugins/featurific-for-wordpress/templates/<name of template>/template.xml . Just change the width and height to what you prefer, and then regenerate your slideshow XML by submitting the Featurific options form again. Then, your slideshow should have the correct dimensions.

Phew! That's a lot of suggestions. Good luck, and please feel free to report back here.

RE: Fatal Error on attempting to activate plugin
Thanks for help, Rinogo... I'm italian, and the language barrier it's only a little bit ;-)
I have done all your instructions, but after the installation were completed, my server crashed! It's restarted hitself because there was a lot of charge of applications not running after installation of featurific! Big Panic for me!
Now I have removed Featurific application but I'm afraid because I like it and it's the right solution for my home page...
What do you think about this, can I try to reinstall Featurific? My WP is 2.6 and the messages from server were "timeout to execute etc. etc."
best regards
fabio
