How to limit text display?
Hi, Rich! I'm installing a slide show in Featurific for a client's site at http://www.consultantsgold.com
I'd like the text to only display across 375 pixels of the 585 screen. Can you explain how to edit this?
And where do I change the text ("This Week's Gold") now being displayed on the top of Featurific?
Thanks!

RE: How to limit text display?
Hi there, Bboots!

Thanks for your question. I'm not sure I understand what you mean about the "This Week's Gold" text - I don't see it. Maybe you already found how to remove it?

With regard to changing the width, edit the template.xml file for the National Geographic theme (in the featurific-for-wordpress/templates directory).

Find this:

<!-- Black shadow behind text -->
<text x="11" y="11" width="585" animationspeed="6" animatefromx="10" animatefromy="-100">
<line fontsize="24" fontstyle="bold" fontcolor="black" text="%post_title%"/>
<line fontsize="16" fontstyle="bold" fontcolor="black" text="%post_excerpt%"/>
<line fontsize="12" fontstyle="bold" fontcolor="black" text="Read More"/>
</text>

<!-- Main text -->
<text x="10" y="10" width="585" animationspeed="6" animatefromx="10" animatefromy="-100">
<line fontsize="24" fontstyle="bold" fontcolor="%title_color%" text="%post_title%"/>
<line fontsize="16" fontstyle="bold" fontcolor="%excerpt_color%" text="%post_excerpt%"/>
<line fontsize="12" fontstyle="bold" fontcolor="%read_more_color%" text="Read More"/>
</text>

and change it to something like this:

<!-- Black shadow behind text -->
<text x="11" y="11" width="375" animationspeed="6" animatefromx="10" animatefromy="-100">
<line fontsize="24" fontstyle="bold" fontcolor="black" text="%post_title%"/>
<line fontsize="16" fontstyle="bold" fontcolor="black" text="%post_excerpt%"/>
<line fontsize="12" fontstyle="bold" fontcolor="black" text="Read More"/>
</text>

<!-- Main text -->
<text x="10" y="10" width="375" animationspeed="6" animatefromx="10" animatefromy="-100">
<line fontsize="24" fontstyle="bold" fontcolor="%title_color%" text="%post_title%"/>
<line fontsize="16" fontstyle="bold" fontcolor="%excerpt_color%" text="%post_excerpt%"/>
<line fontsize="12" fontstyle="bold" fontcolor="%read_more_color%" text="Read More"/>
</text>

(Notice how I've changed the widths from 585 to 375). Does this help?

RE: How to limit text display?
Thanks! Now that I have the text display shortened, I don't want to use the black shadow behind the text. How do I inhibit the following?
<!-- Black shadow behind text -->
<text x="11" y="11" width="375" animationspeed="6" animatefromx="10" animatefromy="-100">
<line fontsize="24" fontstyle="bold" fontcolor="black" text="%post_title%"/>
<line fontsize="16" fontstyle="bold" fontcolor="black" text="%post_excerpt%"/>
<line fontsize="12" fontstyle="bold" fontcolor="black" text="Read More"/>
</text>

And here's a picture of the title I want to change, but can't find:
http://www.bonnieboots.com/featurific-support.htm

Also, I changed this line:
<line fontsize="12" fontstyle="normal" fontcolor="%read_more_color%" text="Click Here To Read More"/>
(bold changed to normal, and Read More changed to Click Here To Read More) and now it displays "read more" over "Click Here To Read More." How can I correct this?

RE: How to limit text display?
Hi bboots!

The answer might be easier than you expect - if you want to remove the black shadow (the code that you posted), just remove the code! (yes, the portion that you posted! Smile )

The "Why Consultants Gold?" text is part of your template, or something that another plugin (or Wordpress itself) is outputting - not Featurific.

As for 'read more' appearing over 'click here to read more', you've probably just got another <line/> element hanging around (perhaps in the shadow text - if you delete all of the shadow text, this problem should...disappear... Smile )

Best of luck!
