Error code doesn't match referenced line
Like this plugin..

Installed, 1.6.1 version
set up the template, seemed simple enough...
Worked fine until next day.

When loading page now, I see this above the working featurific plugin.
Note that the plugin is functioning as required, but this appears above
it about a dozen times.

Warning: file_get_contents() [function.file-get-contents]: Couldn't resolve host name in /home/ttcwatch/public_html/wp-content/plugins/featurific-for-wordpress/featurific.php on line 2132

This is what is at line 2130-2133
2130: //On error, just continue to the next image
2131: if($image_data===false)
2132: continue;
2133:

Any ideas, would be great...
if this has to do with images, I've let the default install do it's thing, so the images would be tied to each template used.

thanks in advance

RE: Error code doesn't match referenced line
Hi there, Sfov!

Thanks for your question! The error message that you're referencing most likely means that Featurific is unable to locate images used in your posts. Featurific, by default, uses the first image found in your posts as the primary image in the Featurific slideshow display. For some reason, these images are not able to be found by Featurific. When Featurific was working correctly, did images from your posts appear appropriately within the Featurific slideshow? If so, then it's possible that the problem is something as simple as your web host having outgoing connectivity issues.

Looking forward to hearing back from you!

RE: Error code doesn't match referenced line
Thanks...

I have no images being pulled into posts, it's all text.
So, I was assuming that it was the "default" background pictures that were being used.

The interesting thing about this, is
while those error codes do show up...
so does featurific, working as it should, cycling through the posts...
but the working plugin in unfortunately showing up underneath all these code errors

So not sure what to say...all the post's are text based, no pictures.

Would there be any way to turn off the addition of images? if so this could go a long way to solving this. (although if there's no pics, it shouldn't be searching)...

As for the host, it's rarely had any issues,..it's one of the better ones around (not godaddy, not hostgator)

Any additional info you need let me know...I'm fine with it for now..
if I refresh the page sometimes it's there sometimes it's not...

weird..
But thanks again

HI again!

Thanks for your response. Do your posts have any images in them at all? Also, can you send me the URL to your site so I can investigate personally?

Thanks! Smile

RE: Error code doesn't match referenced line
Thanks...
No the RSS feed that is being pulled into the site is text only...
I"m using one of the standard templates that come with the plugin

http://www.ttcwatch.com would be the URL

Let me know if there's anything else I can provide.

RE: Error code doesn't match referenced line
Hi Sfov,

I'm not exactly sure what's going on here... Let's do a bit more investigating. Open the featurific.php file within the Featurific For Wordpress plugin and search for these lines:

PHP Code:
                //On error, just continue to the next image

if($image_data===false)
                    continue;

Replace these lines with:

PHP Code:
                //On error, just continue to the next image

if($image_data===false) {
                    echo
$image;
                    continue;
                }

If this doesn't reveal anything useful to us, we can also try this: In featurific.php, search for the code:

PHP Code:
function featurific_parse_images_from_html($html) {

$images = array();

$parser = new HtmlParser($html);

//echo "Working on ***$html***<br/>";

while ($parser->parse()) {
        if(
$parser->iNodeType==NODE_TYPE_ELEMENT && strtolower($parser->iNodeName)=='img') {

$src $parser->iNodeAttributes['src'];

            if(
$src!=null && $src!='') {

//echo "Found '$src'<br/>";

$images[] = $src;

//$thumbpath = image_resize( $file, $max_side, $max_side );

}
        }
    }

    return
$images;

and uncomment the 'echo' lines so it looks like this:
PHP Code:
function featurific_parse_images_from_html($html) {

$images = array();

$parser = new HtmlParser($html);

    echo
"Working on ***$html***<br/>";
    while (
$parser->parse()) {
        if(
$parser->iNodeType==NODE_TYPE_ELEMENT && strtolower($parser->iNodeName)=='img') {

$src $parser->iNodeAttributes['src'];

            if(
$src!=null && $src!='') {
                echo
"Found '$src'<br/>";

$images[] = $src;

//$thumbpath = image_resize( $file, $max_side, $max_side );

}
        }
    }

    return
$images;

Hopefully we can get this figured out! Smile

RE: Error code doesn't match referenced line
Morning:

Ok....using the "first" bit of coding you've supplied, I added the echo $image;
line...
refreshed the page, and it "seemed" to have removed the error's.
Let it play out for a bit to see...if it happens again I will try the 2nd part of that coding example you gave me.

Something I've noticed though, and this may not be anything to do with Featurific is now while there is no error code, the layout format is different until I refresh the page.

Hmm how to explain....
After changing the coding as per your instructions.

Visit site
where the featurific box is supposed to be displayed is "centered text" only
I then refresh the page, either using F5 or the refresh on the browser, and everything pop's back into place as it should.

As I said, let's give this a couple days, to balance out, pull in new post's, and if there's any problems, will then do the 2nd coding change you mentioned, but will update this thread if that happens...

Thanks again...
appreciate this...I'll be using this plugin on a few other sites, and may even go Pro :-)

RE: Error code doesn't match referenced line
Hi again SFov,

Thanks for your update! The code I provided to you will help us determine what's causing the problems - it's probably not going to solve the issue right up front. With that in mind, I visited your site again, and as expected, I received the error messages, but this time with the URLs of the 'images' that Featurific is trying to load.

As you can see from the error messages (included at the end of this post), there's definitely some malformed HTML that seems to be causing the problem. Check out the first entry in the list. It contains this bit of code:

Code:
<img alt="bloor_danforth_tunnel_construction.gif" src="http://<a href="http://www.ttc.ca"></a>watch.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-o-matic/cache/873b5_bloor_danforth_tunnel_construction.gif" width="500" height="304" class="mt-image-center" style="text-align: center; display: block; margin: 0 auto 20px;" />

The alt attribute of this img tag is strange (it's very rare to use the filename as the alt attribute), but this shouldn't cause the problems we're seeing. The problems are introduced with the src attribute - it's completely malformed. It seems that a plugin/some third party code is trying to use the src of:

Code:
"http://<a href="http://www.ttc.ca"></a>watch.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-o-matic/cache/873b5_bloor_danforth_tunnel_construction.gif"

This URL is completely malformed; by inspecting the URL more, it's almost as if the third party code is *trying* to reference this URL:

Code:
"http://watch.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-o-matic/cache/873b5_bloor_danforth_tunnel_construction.gif"

or this one:

Code:
http://www.ttc.ca/wp-content/plugins/wp-o-matic/cache/873b5_bloor_danforth_tunnel_construction.gif

but neither URL seems to exist. Regardless, it appears that the text that is being syndicated does, in fact, have images in it, but they are malformed. This would explain 1) why the images aren't appearing in your syndicated posts, and 2) why Featurific is generating the errors that it is generating.

Any thoughts on what might be causing these problems?
-Rich

The full error text:

http://<a%20href=Working on ***><p>The <a href="http://bit.ly/c8VgnL">Metrolinx</a> board of directors today approved <a href="http://transit.toronto.on.ca/archives/weblog/2010/05/17-5_in_10_me.shtml">a revised plan</a> to complete shorter versions of the “Big Five” transit projects over ten years, instead of eight. Metrolinx will now present the revised project plan for the Government of Ontario to approve.</p>

<p>According to <strong>Robert Prichard</strong>, the president and chief executive officer of Metrolinx, the plan means that, “within a month, projects worth $7 billion of the $9.5 billion will be underway. This is the largest public transit investment in Canadian history and we need to get going now.”</p>

<p>In April 2009, the Province of Ontario announced $9.5 billion for the projects, which include York Region’s <strong><a href="http://bit.ly/4uZLwG">Viva</a></strong> bus rapid transit lines and three of Toronto’s <strong><a href="http://bit.ly/1hqgED">Transit City</a></strong> light rail lines — <strong><a href="http://bit.ly/4Avzjx">Sheppard East</a></strong>, <strong><a href="http://bit.ly/5YcA8m">Etobicoke - Finch West</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://bit.ly/du1Lt">Eglinton - Crosstown</a></strong>. The “5 in 10 plan” also includes <a href="http://bit.ly/8JyQnk">a project</a> to extend the current <strong>Scarborough rapid transit</strong> line and convert it to light rail.</p>

<p>The 2010 Ontario budget committed to fully funding all five projects, including costs that rose because of inflation, but asked Metrolinx to develop a plan to reduce the funding for these projects in the first five years by $4 billion. Metrolinx says the “5 in 10 plan” achieves this goal — building the five projects by 2020, while saving $4 billion in the first five years.</p>

RE: Error code doesn't match referenced line
Thanks for the informative posting...

Let me play with this a bit, and you're correct it looks like it's a completely deformed URL...

This may have to do with one of the plugin's I'm using for the pulling in of info
WP-O-Matic

This is configured, then run as a cron job once a day...
The plugin uses a cache folder, that has to be writable, in order to store pictures...
I would then assume it's using the cached pics if any ....so it is similar to a third party call here...

The funny thing though, is when I go directly to the story that's being pulled in there is no pictures..so not sure why it would be trying to pull a picture in...

The picture if there was one could be non capturable too from the original site.

Let me play with it for a bit..I may need to find another way to pull in RSS feeds into the blog if I want to use Featurific...

Thanks again will update as needed...

-Rich

<p>Here’s what you can expect throughout the upcoming Victoria Day holiday weekend — from 5 p.m. on Saturday, <strong>May 22</strong> until 5 a.m. on Tuesday, <strong>May 25</strong>:</p>

<ul>
<li>
<strong>Bay Station</strong> is closed to passengers. If you usually board or leave the subway at Bay Station, this weekend, you’ll have to use Bloor - Yonge, Museum or St. George Stations if you want to travel along the 2 <strong>Bloor - Danforth</strong> line.</li>
<li>
Trains operating to or from Bloor - Yonge Station pass through — but don’t stop at — the <a href="http://www.ttc.ca"></a>’s “ghost station”, <strong>lower Bay Station</strong>.</li>
<li>
<strong>All east- and westbound trains detour to Museum Station</strong>, where they end their trips. If you want to travel further east- or westward along the line, you’ll have to exit the train at Museum, cross to the other side of the platform, then board a train going in the opposite direction to continue your trip.</li>
<li>
Both 1 <strong>Yonge - University - Spadina</strong> and 2 <strong>Bloor - Danforth</strong> subway trains share the same platform at <strong>Museum Station</strong>. Check the destination signs of each train to make sure that you’re getting on the right train. Listen to announcements over the public address system, read signs or ask <a href="http://www.ttc.ca"></a> staff on the platform for directions to make sure you’re going the right way.</li>
<li>
Both 1 <strong>Yonge - University - Spadina</strong> and 2 <strong>Bloor - Danforth</strong> subway trains also share the same platform on the upper level of <strong>St. George Station</strong>. Trains do not operate through the lower level of St. George. Check the destination signs of each train to make sure that you’re getting on the right train. Listen to announcements over the public address system, read signs or ask <a href="http://www.ttc.ca"></a> staff on the platform for directions to make sure you’re going the right way.</li>

http://<a%20href=Working on ***><p>The <a href="http://bit.ly/c8VgnL">Metrolinx</a> board of directors today approved <a href="http://transit.toronto.on.ca/archives/weblog/2010/05/17-5_in_10_me.shtml">a revised plan</a> to complete shorter versions of the “Big Five” transit projects over ten years, instead of eight.

Hi SFov,

I think the reason why the images aren't appearing in the posts is because the URLs are malformed and inaccessible. If you just want to take the easy way out on this one, I can always send you a custom version of featurific.php that suppresses the warning messages related to the images.

Good luck, and have a great day!
